It was the evening of October 21st, 2006. I was on another tour with my friend, and we had ourselves a day off in town after the Brooklyn gig. Being the focused kind of guy he is, he was using the time to record some new tunes with Eric Drew Feldman and Tony Maimone at Tony's Studio G here in the neighborhood. He had an instrumental that needed lyrics, and asked me if I wanted to write them. It was interesting because although we'd collaborated on a bunch of songs before, I'd never written just lyrics by themselves. So I told him I'd give it a shot. We sat down and played through it a couple times. Rather than write in the control room with a different song playing through the monitors (something like trying to dial a phone while someone mutters random numbers in your ear), I decided to jump in a cab and head over to my place to see what I could do. I got back to the studio about 40 minutes later with these lyrics and the melodic direction. Got a couple laughs out of him when he read them the first time, so I figured we were good. "Don't Get Me Wrong" appears on the Frank Black album Christmass.
